Ready to meet MY Guest Post Swap partner

Dear friends,

Today I am proud to present to you my Guest Post Swap Partner: Dee :) She will take over my blog for today so be nice and be kind and check out her blog as it is adorable and full of interesting details of The Royal Couple ;) In the meanwhile you can find my post on her blog HERE ;)

Hiya! Im Dee and I run an expat lifestyle blog over at A Deecoded Life. Today, Anda and I are swapping guest posts on our blogs and I promise I will try my best not to bore you by talking about something Anda also likes talking about over here - the royals!

I, too, am a huge fan of Prince William and Kate Middleton. I am as old as them both, actually, and my brother is as old as Prince Harry; fun coincidence, isnt it?

When I was a teen, I had a crush on Wills. Then I grew up and forgot about him till the royal engagement was announced and I fell in love with Wills and Kate as a couple.

I went so nuts over the royal wedding that I did what I usually do when I go nuts over everything - research it to death. So I thought Id share 7 facts (?) that I learned from reading books about them. Why 7? Because its my favorite number, thats why I run a weekly series called "Sunday Seven" which you might want to check out some time.

Okay, here we go:

(1) Prince William could have died before being born.

Diana was three months pregnant with William when, in a jealous fit over her husbands long-term affair with the married Camilla Parker Bowles, she hurled herself down the main staircase at Sandringham, the Queens privately owned, twenty-thousand-acre estate a hundred miles north of London in Norfolk. The Queen herself came running and found Diana sprawled on the marble floor at the foot of the stairs. {Source: A}

(2) Prince William was his mothers confidant.

Williams role in Princess Dianas life was more that of alternative husband other than son. It was a heavy burden for anyone, but especially someone so young. {Source: A}

(3) Prince William wasnt keen on being king.

This happened during Williams gap year:

The others had spent the past hour discussing what they planned to do when they returned home. Some had places at universities, others had further adventures to look forward to. William quietly listened to their excited chatter. Youre all so lucky. he said as the flames flickered across his face. I dont have much choice about my future. One day I will be king, and to be honest Im not much interested in that at all at the moment. {Source: B}

(4) When Kate was a child, another William proposed to her.

Actually, it was just acting for a play. Kate played the role of a female lead in a Victorian melodrama called Murder in the Red Barn. In one scene caught on video, the love of her life, named William, gets down on one knee and proposes marriage. "Yes, its all Ive ever longed for," Kate replies. "Yes, oh yes, dear William!" {Source: A}

I guess some people would call that moment prophetic? I wonder if this is how it played out with the real William years later.

(5) Kate had a crush on Prince William before they even met.

Kate was jokingly called "princess in waiting" by her high school friends because she had a crush on Prince William. When they talked about the boys in school, she said she didnt like any of them, that they were all a bit of rough. "Theres no one quite like William," she said. "I bet hes really kind. You can just tell by looking at him." {Source: C}

(6) Prince William and Kate were friends for over a year before they became a couple.

They were both dating other people when they first met. But since they were both Art history majors, Wills leaned on Kate heavily for advice. He liked that she was a very levelheaded girl.

Then one day, Kate joined the annual Dont Walk charity fashion show. As Kate shimmied down the runway wearing black underwear in a see-through dress, William turned to his friend Fergus, saying, "Wow, Kates hot!"

Later at the after-party, William made a move and leaned in to kiss her. Kate pulled away, stunned that he had been so bold in a room full of strangers. But though she rebuffed him that night, it was evident that there was chemistry between them. They got together not long after that. {Source: A}

(7) When the world thought they were going to get engaged, they broke up instead.

In 2007, England was so convinced that William and Kate would get engaged that they begun selling souvenirs commemorating the couples nuptials. But at 25, William wasnt ready to commit and ended the relationship instead.

Kate was devastated by the breakup. Her mother told her, "Hell change his mind. For now, just let him know you have a life. Hell realize soon enough it was a mistake to let you go."

We all know how that turned out, dont we? Mother was right. After seeing Kates partying pictures splashed all over the papers and magazines, William realized he missed her and got back together with her during his mothers memorial concert. {Source: A}

It Took Me Ages To Grow Into Being A Woman Into Being Happy With It

Today we have yet another celebration of one of my personal fav movie stars: Helena Bonham Carter (HBC). Helena Bonham Carter, CBE (born 26 May 1966) is an English actress. She made her acting debut in a television adaptation of K. M. Peytons A Pattern of Roses before her debut film role as the titular character in Lady Jane. She is known for her roles in films, such as: A Room with a View, Fight Club, The Kings Speech, and playing Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter series. She frequently collaborates with her domestic partner, director Tim Burton, in films such as: Planet of the Apes, Big Fish, Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Alice in Wonderland, and Dark Shadows. In 2012, she played Miss Havisham in Great Expectations, and Madame Thénardier in Les Misérables.

A two-time Academy Award nominee for her performances in The Wings of the Dove and The Kings Speech, Bonham Carters acting has been further recognised with seven Golden Globe nominations, an International Emmy Award for best actress, a BAFTA Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2012 New Year honours list for services to drama, and received the honour from the Queen at Buckingham Palace on 22 February 2012.In January 2014, British Prime Minister David Cameron announced that Bonham Carter had been appointed to Britains new national Holocaust Commission.

I aint looking for a motive to spill the beans here, but I always wanted to say what I love/admire in this woman, so here we go:

I admire the fact that she feels comfortable with herself wherever she is, whatever she is wearing! As she put it: "It Took Me Ages To Grow Into Being A Woman, Into Being Happy With It" and I dare say she actually managed it nicely! She can stay in whatever position it pleases her, she may speak the way that she wants but she is always top class and you can see how much she has grown from being the frightened girl from A Room With A View to the hardcore Bellatrix from Harry Potter. And just have a look at her style of clothing - it is insane yet very appealing. Not everyone can pull that kind of look and remain alive without critics biting on ones neck! Who else can wear mismatched shoes to the Golden Globe Awards and say something like this: "Why not wear mismatching shoes? Who says we can’t? I was just having fun ... For me, fashion is all about fantasy and putting unlikely things together. That’s what I love. I genuinely love dressing up."
I feel intrigued over her long-lasting relationship/partnership with the genius Tim Burton - figure this out, they have bought 2 houses, joined in by the wall and set that wall down. The third house they own is on the same street but the kids live there with the nanny. Each of the houses has their own different style and they have daily meetings. HBC is Tims muse and you can see her in almost all his movies - or at least hear her voice... - since they have been together. Marriage is overratted for them and I understand their way of thinking but I must underline this is a thing I do not agree with. If one loves another and they match, they should get wed... but hey, I am oldfashioned!
I adore her amazing wardrobe and her genius accessories - if you can pull off mismatched shoes, weird boots, strange glasses, bird-nest hairdos and whatever not that you must be doing something right and you are one hell of a woman! And that is what she is: a remarcable woman! Everything you will put her in would look stunning on her and peoples jaws will drop. But guess what? She is her very own stylist and she picks her own goodies. She chooses what to wear with which and to what ocassion and not once has she been spotted with the same clothes, so that is a clear statement that she does fashion and she is not made by fashion.
Parenting skills done right - did you know that HBC and Tim actually went for 7 weeks to a childcare guru to make sure they will raise their 2 babies correctly and give them the best. I know that having a nanny vs. shooting movies/being a producer is not that ok, also living in another house (even if it is on the same street) is not that ok either, but how awesome is Helena for taking her bike out and bringing her 2 lovely sons back home each day?!
I love the she has ALWAYS put her heart and soul into the movies she has done - I think one of the very first movies I have seen with Helena was the ecranisation of A Room With A View. She was so adorable as Lucy, and so very young. After that it must have been Lady Jane - or so I remember... Just give her a script and a bit of time and she will do from any character in the play something legendary that for sure you will remember :) She is not afraid of strange roles that push her to the limit and she likes both the dark and the positive characters. Come on! She played in The Planet of Apes and she was not afraid of being a monkey! She had her head triple the size for being The Red Queen in the newest Alice in Wonderland - the one with the Polish Alice ;) She played a very crazy (in love with Mr. Todd - Johnny Depp) cook//baker in Sweeney Todd - just have a look at her hair and her deep dark eyes! And the beach scene is just epic! To be underlined that not only does she act remarkably but she also sings rather lovely ;) Take for example Sweeney Todd & Les Miserables.

To be mentioned also that this true lady, even though she is in the industry were almost everyone tried at least once or struggled with drugs/had problems with parties overnight and lack of sleep due to much more parties than once could take, she remains clear and has a free consience from all the harms that the industry brings :) Way to go, Helena! This is why your fans love you and respect your work ;)

What do you think of HBC? Are you a fan or are you against her NON- Hollywood Style of living? I find her fabulous and at the same time very down to Earth in her way of thinking. She is not the normal type of Star in Hollywood but she certainly does not want that :)

Sonntag Aktuell Prize For The Most Interesting Tour Offer Goes To

Dear friends,

You know me, I like finding new things about Poland and especially about Krakow. More than 3 years ago, when I settled down in this fairy land very close to my heart, I wanted to start learning Polish language. The sad part was the fact that I always had a irregular schedule, mostly starting from 4 or 5 PM till early in the morning so all the available lessons were out of my reach. Now I managed to kinda self teach myself and I do understand mostly all that people around me speak of. Answering back is still an issue but hey! Thank God for hands and sign language :) But if I would have chosen a place where I would have liked to go study for sure it would have been the Varia Polish Language Center as their offer for courses is amazing: from semester courses to fast track intesive to the individual lessons in which you could learn at your own pace.

Now I did not know this until recently but Varia Polish Language Center also hosts a lovely tour of Krakow: "Krakow on High Heels" - a tour only for women, being held for 5 days in Krakow. Each day has its individual programme as you can see in the picture below. In 2012, they received the "Sonntag Aktuell" which is a very prestigious prize for the most interesting tour offer. Its a great way to escape for a while, to have a small break/holiday and relax as you fall in love with Krakow again and again. If you are interseted I would definetely give it a go. At 320 Euro per lady/lass/madam you will have the entrance tickets covered and 4 nights + breakfast. There are 5 dates and the closest one is from the 11th till the 15th of September; the rest of 4 dates are for 2015 and you can see them on the picture below.

I believe this would be a brilliant way to learn more of Krakow and if any of my friends would come around those dates I would surely pass this information to them. They are easy to find both on facebook and also on their website. If you manage to go, if you manage to join them in this tour before I do, give me a shout and let me know how it went :)
